Lao Tzu is widely credited with being the father of Taoism. But it’s unclear if he ever got laid.

Given the time in which he lived and the lifestyle devoted to simplicity, contemplation, and flow, it’s unlikely he had time to court many women. This is not to say he couldn’t have had his fair share of groupies, as chicks dig mysterious guys, but the details are lost to history.

Luckily, Lao Tzu left behind a wealth of knowledge that we can use to better our lives. His musings on life, death, the universe, and existence are chock full of wisdom, and if you look hard enough, Taoism usually has the answer you seek no matter what problem you might have.

In this case, we’ll see if we can apply some of Lao Tzu’s teachings to the modern world of dating. Can Taoism improve our love lives? I think it can.

Go With The Flow

Lao Tzu speaks of “wu-wei,” or action through non-action. In the parlance of our times, that means going with the flow.

But how can we apply this to our love life?

One of the main issues people face when it comes to finding love is trying to force the issue. We’ve been conditioned to expect it, thanks to romantic comedies and fairytales where true love is the main narrative focus.
